"The mind of man has perplexed itself with many hard questions. Is space infinite, and in what sense? Is the material world infinite in extent, and are all places within that extent equally full of matter? Do atoms exist or is matter infinitely divisible?"
- James C. Maxwell
Time and space are deep wells of consideration. The idea that you can stand in a place that stretches forwards and backwards in countless variants of itself through time, each subtly caressed by the forces of nature into a new vision of itself is magnificent.
An architect of supreme will must be the source of such spatial catharsis. We live as though bound to our position in time and space, believing ourselves to be the apex of that coordinate. How can we claim the infinite to be subservient to our will? How can we envision ourselves as so self-important? Humility comes naturally when you introduce scope.
